A Fresh Start for Hikurangi School: Inside the New Admin Block

In mid-2024, Guyco was thrilled to partner with Hikurangi School on an exciting project—the creation of a modern, purpose-built administration block. This wasn’t just about bricks and mortar; it was about solving real challenges and giving the school’s team a space that truly supports their work and welcomes the community.

Why was this project so important?
The old admin building had been struggling with water ingress issues, flooding risks, and poor design flow. These problems made day-to-day operations difficult and created an environment that wasn’t ideal for staff or visitors. The new facility addresses all of these concerns, providing a safe, efficient, and welcoming space for everyone.

Construction kicked off in December 2024, and by November 2025, the vision had become reality. The new admin block is more than an office—it’s a hub for connection and care. Inside, you’ll find a bright and functional reception area, a comfortable staff room, a dedicated sick bay, a welcoming whanau room, the Tumuaki’s office, and versatile meeting spaces designed for collaboration.

Behind the scenes, Mandeno Design brought the concept to life with thoughtful design, while LM Consulting managed the project on behalf of the Ministry of Education. Together, the team delivered a space that blends practicality with warmth—a true asset for the school and its community.
